Today I attended Respect Me’s annual conference. I thought it was really good. They had lots of inspirational ideas and a great overall focus. The main theme was on children’s rights. Children have the right to an education and have the right to be protected from harm within schools. Additionally, they have the right to know what their rights are. I like this focus. I’m all for empowering children. When implemented well, it empowers children to ask questions about their [...]
I completed the marathon in under 4 hours 45mins. For me, this was a psychological experiment. I did no physical training beforehand. I regularly encourage my clients to change their beliefs about themselves and I had to change a lot of my own beliefs about me for this task to be successful. Often, children follow this pattern: 1) Feel the need to talk to someone and tell they are being bullied 2) Imagine how the conversation will go: Think of the worst case scenario 3) Feel [...]
I’m just back from working at a Summer Camp. It’s wonderful to have so many students all highly motivated and so keen to make positive changes. Good feelings are so infectious. When you are among a group of happy people it’s really difficult to not feel happy too. Everyone is swept up in the dynamic of the group and they are all part of a huge momentum taking them forwards. Individual’s who get bullied don’t usually get to experience this. [...]
